Competition and Market Regulation Program

video

Watch Video (02:13)

"We deal with regulation of prices, interconnection, access to networks, investments, licensing…The value added for the students is that they see how economics and regulation are applied by competition authorities and regulation authorities in Europe and elsewhere."

Prof. Tommaso Valletti

University of Rome and Imperial College

Courses 2011-12

The courses in the Competition and Market Regulation program follow a progression, first endowing students with the necessary conceptual framework, then introducing them to the core issues in the field. Finally students examine actual competition policy cases and show how regulation works in specific industries, such as telecommunications, energy, and banking.

In September, the Mathematics and Statistics review course and the Computer Tools course are offered to students in all Barcelona GSE programs. Although these courses are not obligatory for students in this master, they are highly recommended. They will help students to brush up on mathematical skills relevant to economics and learn computer applications particularly useful in doing economic research.
